Rainy weekends, cold winter afternoons, or times when playing outside isn't an option – as a mom, it can be a challenge to keep your child active and entertained.

But what if you could create a world of play and movement with one simple toy? My handmade beanbags are the perfect solution! They've been bringing joy to our family for years. In this blog post, I'm sharing 5 fantastic indoor games for kids that you can play with beanbags. Perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and children up to 9 years old who want to burn off some energy.

No beanbags yet? I got you! Check out my bean bags .

Game 1 - A Tower Full of Treasures - Can you knock down the tower with beanbags?

Build a tower out of cardboard or plastic cups and hide small treasures under, next to, or between them. For example, a small toy under a cup, or small gemstones or diamonds at the bottom of the tower. It could be anything; don't make it too difficult for yourself.

Your task is to use the beanbags to collapse the tower and free the treasure. Exciting and fun!
Want to make it even more challenging? Build taller towers or have your child throw from a distance.

Game 2 - The Animal Game with Bean Bags

Bring magic into the living room with the animal game. Have your child move like an animal. Give a task with the animal they're supposed to imitate and the beanbag they're supposed to go to:
  • Jump like a kangaroo to the green beanbag
  • Roar like a lion and walk bravely towards the ribbed beanbag.
  • Hopping happily like a deer to the prettiest beanbag.
  • Fly like a bird to the beanbag that is furthest away.
This game not only gets your child moving but also encourages creativity and collaboration. Magical, right? And make it even more fun for your child by joining in. Fun and connection guaranteed.
Extra tip: let your child make up their own animals for even more fun.

Game 3 - Indoor gym: active assignments with beanbags

Your living room is a fantastic gym! Place the bean bags in a circle or row on the floor, and assign a task to each bean bag:

  • Jump on the bean bag.
  • Jump over the beanbag.
  • Touch the bean bag.
  • Lift the bean bag above your head.
  • Place the bean bag on top of the next bean bag.
  • Stand on one leg on the bean bag.
  • Run to the next beanbag.

You can tailor the activities to your child's age and energy level. Bonus tip: have your child create activities for you – guaranteed fun and connection for both of you!

Game 4 - Beanbag Throwing, Improve Throwing Skills

Beanbags are perfect for throwing games! Set up a basket or hoop as a target and try to throw the beanbags into it. Start close and gradually increase the difficulty by increasing the distance.

Game 5 - Sensory Foot Path: Feel the Textures

Stimulate your child's senses with a sensory foot path. Combine sensory bean bags, pillows, and other soft materials to create a foot path. Let your child walk on it and ask:

  • How does it feel? Hard or soft?
  • Is it cold or warm?
  • Does it feel firm or wobbly?

This indoor game is not only fun, but also helps your child become aware of their body and movements.

Why bean bags are ideal for active indoor games

Beanbags are small, don't bounce or roll, are versatile, and spark the imagination. They stimulate both gross and fine motor skills, are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and remain challenging for older children. Moreover, we make the beanbags from sustainable materials, making them a responsible choice for parents who want to buy sustainable toys.
